INSPECTOR General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has promoted Nkwazi striker Justin Shonga to the rank of sergeant following his splendid performance at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Cup where Zambia finished runners-up to Zimbabwe.
Shonga, who was named man-of-the-match in the 2-1 win over Botswana in the quarter-finals and the 4-2 victory over Tanzania in the semi-finals, will also act as inspector. Shonga scored three goals at the COSAFA Castle Cup but failed to shake the net in the final as Zambia lost 3-1 to Zimbabwe.
Kanganja said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that the Zambia Police Service is proud of Shonga’s performance at the regional tournament.
Kanganja said sport in the Zambia Police Service is an important component in building the institutional image and urged sportsmen and women not to indulge in illicit activities that would ruin their career and the good image of the institution.
