Identify roads for rehab – Musenge

COPPERBELT Minister Mwenya Musenge has urged councillors and members of Parliament (MP) in the province to get involved in identifying roads to be worked on under the C-400 road project.
Government through the Road Development Agency (RDA) has awarded a US$492.5 million contract to China Henan to construct and rehabilitate 406 kilometres of urban roads on the Copperbelt.
Mr Musenge said in an interview yesterday that civic leaders should play a leading role in the identification of critical roads that should be included in the C-400 road project.
He said the C-400 road project, which is expected to create 4,000 jobs, is aimed at improving the road network in all districts on the province.
Mr Musenge said all constituencies will benefit from the project.
He said councillors should work closely with MPs in the identification of roads.
He said areas like Garneton which does not have proper roads, need to benefit from the project so that thy are opened up for development.
He said Garneton needs to have a good tarred road linking it to Mukuba University. This will facilitate the construction of boarding houses in the area to ease accommodation challenges that students at the higher learning institution face.
