A CRIMINAL investigations officer has testified that some of the people who attacked armed police officers in Katete, Eastern Province, in November emerged from the graveyard. Katete Police Station detective chief inspector Rodgers Mwanza told Chipata High Court that three youths emerged from the graveyard carrying tree branches, which symbolised danger for officers, who were following up a case of malicious damage. This is in a matter in which 21 youths of Joweni village under Chief Kawaza in Katete are facing 22 counts of riotous behaviour, arson, malicious damage to property, 18 counts of assault of police and one count of assault.
