HUAWEI, a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, last Saturday treated several Lusaka couples to a free red carpet premiere of Deadpool.
The couples, who included celebrities, started walking down the red carpet outside Manda Hill Freshview Cinemas around 18:00 hours ready to take their seats to watch the thrilling one hour, 40 minutes action and fantasy trailer.
The show was tied to the premiere of Huawei P8 Lite, the latest Android smartphone.
And as part of the free Valentine’s eve cinema treat, snacks and drinks were provided to the thrilled couples.
In an interview before the movie was shown, Huawei marketing officer Bwalya Noah said Huawei would remain resolute to appreciating its customers and media followers.
“Through our Huawei Mobile Zambia Facebook page, we have, since January this year, been giving out tickets in readiness for this red carpet movie night powered by Huawei P8 Lite, our latest device on the market.
“Since Valentine’s is about showing some love, we gave out about 200 tickets to our followers as a way of appreciating their unending support towards us [Huawei] and as they watch the movie, they should also watch out for more new Huawei products,” Noah said.
And in an interview after the movie, Lazarus Ng’ambi of Kabanana said the flick was “ok” and thanked Huawei for the gesture.
“I enjoyed the movie though some scenes were not alright…but we thank Huawei for this great marketing strategy of treating us to a movie,” said Ng’ambi, who was flanked by his lover Lydia Kabwe.
“The movie was great, it sparked the meaning of true love though I noticed certain scenes in the movie were too awkward or rather explicit for new couples like ours,” said Rozaria Jenga Jenga, who was flanked by her lover, Peter Lenga Lenga of Emmasdale.
And describing her cinema experience, Villy Sitali Nawa posted on Huawei Mobile Zambia Facebook saying: “We did have fun, the movie was awesome…the popcorn and drinks provided by Huawei, the free red carpet photos and professional photographer organised by Huawei…Everything was just perfect. I couldn’t expect any less because it was a Huawei experience.”
