CHAMBO NG’UNI, Kabwe
ZAMBIA has launched honey exports to China with an initial consignment worth US$34,000 expected to hit the Asian nation’s market soon.
Speaking when she flagged off the export of 3.4 tonnes of processed honey on Wednesday, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Kampamba Mulenga said the honey export is in line with Government’s economic diversification programme.
Ms Mulenga said the launch of honey exports follows the signing of a protocol by President Edgar Lungu and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during a recent visit to the Asian country.
Zambia’s annual honey production is 2,500 tonnes but the country currently exports 1,000 tonnes of honey to the European market and African Union member countries.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
