Dear editor,
THE arrest and subsequent charging of United Party for National Development (UPND) president, Hakainde Hichilema for treason is timely and a good gesture for Zambia’s peace and unity.
The Kuomboka ceremony where HH committed some of the crimes was not a political event.
It cuts across political, tribe and race. As such, it is not good that the UPND leader behaved in such a manner.
His action endangered the life of the head of State. Under any stress of imagination, president Hichilema’s action sent the wrong message to the whole world and it is very embarrassing.
The major opposition political party leader is on record of refusing to accept that President Edgar Lungu is head of State.
What is certain is that President Lungu was duly elected during the August 11, 2016 general elections.
The arresting of president Hichilema will serve as lesson to other political leaders who condone lawlessness.
