HH, GBM lose in Supreme Court

THE Supreme Court has dismissed with costs an application for interim reliefs in which United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema and his running-mate Geoffrey Mwamba sought to stop the inauguration of President-elect Edgar Lungu and Vice President-elect Inonge Wina until the Constitutional Court hears the presidential election petition.
And Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba have discontinued the case in which they wanted an interpretation from the Constitutional Court on whether today’s inauguration can go ahead without declaring President-elect Edgar Lungu as winner of last month’s general elections.
In this case, Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba were seeking a conservatory order to restrain Chief Justice Irene Mambilima and her deputy Marvin Mwanamwambwa from swearing in Mr Lungu and Mrs Wina.READ MORE
