Health to recruit 2,000 workers

ALVIN CHIINGA, Lusaka
MINISTER of Health Chitalu Chilufya says all the 5,430 health workers Government recruited will be placed on the payroll by the end of this month.
Dr Chilufya also said an additional 2,000 health workers will be recruited by the end of this month depending on authority from the treasury.
“We expect to recruit an additional 2,000 health workers bringing the total number of health workers recruited by the ministry to 7,430,” he said in an interview.
The minister said Government undertakes a verification process, which involves verification by the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) to ensure that the right people are recruited.
He urged health workers who were given provisional letters to ensure that they report to their respective stations.
Dr Chilufya said there has been a delay in placing the health workers on the payroll mainly due to the verification process.
He said since the appointments were provisionally done, there is need for a thorough verification process.
He said placement on the payroll is more individually-driven because the recruited are needs to report immediately they receive their employment provisional letters.
