Eastern Province commissioner of police Eugene Sibote told journalists yesterday that the incident happened on Tuesday around 12:00 hours at the school in Chief Mkanda’s area in Chipata.
Mr Sibote said Nelson Tembo, 35, allegedly gave a lift to two girls and when he arrived home, he sent one of the girls to fetch water while he remained at the house and allegedly defiled the other.
He said police have arrested and detained Tembo and he will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man of Chief Ndake’s area has committed suicide after allegedly axing his wife to death.
Mr Sibote said Maxwell Mwanza allegedly killed his wife Kaluba Lungu, 26, between Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
He said Ms Lungu’s body had deep cuts on the head and a blood stained axe was found beside it.
Mr Sibote said Mwanza’s body was found in a hut about 100 metres away from where Ms Lungu’s body was.
