HUGE handbags are being used by some workers at Solwezi General Hospital to allegedly pilfer essential medicines and other medical supplies. North-Western Province Permanent Secretary Grandson Katambi says if it wasn’t for human rights, he could have advocated for a ban on the use of big handbags inside the hospital premises. Colonel Katambi says the pilferage of medicines by workers at the public health facility is leading to frequent drug stock-outs. He said the provincial administration is aware that some chemists and drugstores in town are being stocked with medicines from the public health facility.
