Green Eagles title ambitions suffer setback

GREEN Eagles on Saturday missed an opportunity to close the gap on leaders Kitwe Playing Field (KPF) after losing to Mufulira A in a National Rugby League Week 14 encounter in Kabwe.

KPF and second-placed Red Arrows, who were not in action, have 56 and 43 points respectively.
The visitors posted tries through Melvin Banda and Bruce Saimbunji with Dean Zulu and Dan Kunda accounting for a conversion apiece.
Eagles, who are third with 41 points, scored a consolation penalty through Thaddious Chipoya.
BUFFALOES 14 NKWAZI 19
Green Buffaloes’ aspirations of finishing in the top four suffered a setback after Nkwazi stunned them in a Lusaka derby.
Charles Male, Laston Mukosa and Carl Sakalunda accounted for a try each.
Mukosa also scored a brace of conversions.
Charles Kafwimbi and Joseph Lufile’s tries were not enough.
Sotho Kafwimbi converted twice for fifth-placed Buffaloes’ who remain stuck with 37 points.
Roan battered Chibuluma 28-23, Mufulira B thumped Ndola 50-9 and Nchanga edged Kansanshi 8-3.
