GREEN Buffaloes will bolster their squad in a bid to challenge for the 2016 Super Division title.
Club chairman Andrew Siame said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the Barclays Cup champions will soon enter the transfer market to strengthen the squad.
“We want a winger to replace Allan Mukuka, we also want to bring in a midfielder and a goalkeeper. We want competition amongst the goalkeepers,†Siame said.
Mukuka joined South Africa’s National First Division side AmaZulu in August this year on a one-year loan.
“We have told our technical bench to give us the list of the three players they want to bring to the club. We are sure that next week we will start talking to various clubs for the services of players we want to sign,†Siame said.
He said the Bilton Musonda-tutored side wants to play continental football in 2017.
“We won the Barclays Cup this time around but the instruction we have from the command is to go for the big prize [Super Division title] next year. This is why we want competition in all the departments,†Siame said.
Buffaloes last competed in the Confederation Cup in 2008.
The soldiers lost 2-1 on aggregate to Zimbabwean side Highlanders in the first round.
And Siame said forward Felix Sunzu has recovered from a long injury lay-off.
“Felix Sunzu has been declared fit and is ready for the 2016 season and we are comfortable with the strikers we have in the team,†he said.
Sunzu was loaned to Power Dynamos last season.
