Granny, granddaughter sued

CHRISTINE CHIHAME, Mansa
A FIFTY-YEAR-old woman of Mansa has narrated before the local court how her daughter’s mother in-law went to her house and told her that her daughter was not good enough for her son.

This was heard in a case in which Christina Kasanse sued Joyce Kabungo, 60, and Cecilia Chipeta, 16, claiming compensation for insults.
Kasanse said last month that Kabungo and her granddaughter Chipeta went to her house and told her that her daughter is the reason for her son’s problems.
She said the two then started insulting her and telling her that she should get her daughter as she was not good enough for her son.
“My daughter’s mother in-law came to my house last month and started accusing me that I force my daughter on her son. She said my daughter has two children with her son but she told me that my daughter was not good enough for her son,” she said.
She said from that time, Kabungo and her granddaughter have been insulting her whenever they meet her.
She said Kabungo has since got her daughter out of her matrimonial home.
But Kabungo and her grand-daughter denied ever insulting Kasanse.
Kabungo said Kasanse instead accused her of bewitching her daughter.
The court adjourned the case for judgement.
