AN 80-YEAR-OLD woman of Chingola has allegedly been murdered by his 30-year-old grandson on suspicion that she was practising witchcraft.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Saturday in Mutende, Chingola.
Mrs Katanga identified the deceased as Anyanshi Nduba and the suspect as Samuel Nduba, both of Mutende.
“The deceased sustained multiple body injuries, a broken right leg as well as fire burns on her body,†she said.
Mrs Katanga said the deceased’s body is lying in the Munchinshi Rural Health Centre mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man of Kitwe has allegedly been mur-dered by his wife.
Mrs Katanga said the incident happened on Saturday between 19:00 hours and 20:00 hours in Wusakile township.
She named the deceased as Chrispine Kitungu, a truck driver, and the suspect as Prisca Chabu.
Mrs Katanga said the deceased’s body was found lying in a pool of blood at the couple’s home.
“The suspect has been picked to assist with investigations while the body of the deceased is in Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem,†she said.
