Govt secures $30 million for agro project

HONE SIAME, Lusaka
GOVERNMENT has secured about US$30 million for the implementation of the agribusiness and trade project across the country in line with its economic diversification agenda.
Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba said the loan has been acquired from the International Development Association (IDA) to help step up Government’s diversification drive through agriculture and industrialisation.
Mr Yamba said the agriculture sector is critical to the country’s development and that Government will continue to establish strong market linkages to raise farmer incomes and reduce poverty at household level.
This is according to the latest economic report issued by the Ministry of Finance yesterday.
