Govt release K3m for completion of infrastructure projects in Ikelengi

CATHERINE MUMBA, Ikelengi
GOVERNMENT says it has released K3 million for the completion of various infrastructure projects in Ikelengi district, North-Western Province.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela told journalists in Ikelengi the money will be channelled towards the ongoing construction of administration offices, a police station, staff houses and related infrastructure.
“With this payment I expect all contractors to be back on site after the rains. There is no contractor who can give an excuse of not having been paid,” he said.
Mr Chitotela said there had been a set-back in the district following the termination of five contracts because the contractors had abandoned works after being paid.
He, however, said Government was still evaluating bids that had been submitted so that serious contractors could be engaged to finish the projects.
“We are demonstrating a whole inclusive development agenda that we will develop all parts of the country regardless of the geographical location or political affiliation,” Mr Chitotela said.
