Government unveils mealie-meal price strategies

MINISTER of Agriculture Dora Siliya yesterday told Parliament that Government has come up with three strategies to cushion poor households from high mealie-meal prices.
The measures involve increasing community sales of maize through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), especially to needy communities and households; increase maize sales to the solar milling plants under the Zambia Co-operative Federation (ZCF) across the country; and special allocation of grain to education and health institutions by FRA.
Ms Siliya said in a ministerial statement that to safeguard the poor households, Government will increase community sales of maize through the FRA, especially in needy communities and households.READ MORE
