Gonde Njanji Sports Club opens

GONDE Lodge Limited last week Friday officially opened the Gonde Njanji Sports Club, a multi sports facility where patrons were treated to a cocktail of different genres of music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and some of the current songs.
At Gonde Njanji Sports Club, which is the talking point for most Kabwe residents who love a day out, patrons will be able to enjoy a number of activities including squash, the gym and aerobics, swimming pool, table tennis and darts.
It is why the official opening attracted a somewhat who’s who of Kabwe.
Gonde Lodge chief executive officer Cledwin Mulambo was joined at the official opening by among others, newly-installed Kabwe executive mayor Prince Chileshe and the district commissioner Dominic Mulenga.
It was the task of  KNC Radio disc jockey Romeo to keep them entertained.
“It’s a social event tonight,” DJ Romeo, who was also doubling as a master of ceremonies, announced as though to put the people at ease. “We have to drink and enjoy together.”
And then he straight away went into the music; playing tracks like Bryan Adam’s adult contemporary  Please Forgive Me, Bob Marley’s 1979’s release  Turn Your Lights Down Low  which features the immensely talented Lauryn Hill and DeBarge’s  Rhythm of the Night , which kick-started the songwriting career of Diane Warren and was the biggest hit recorded by the Motown family singing group in 1985.
He then moved on to Evelyn King’s 1982 hit single  Love Come Down, Marvin Gaye’s 1982 hit  Sexual Healing  before coming on the home front with songs like Ireen Mambilima and  Mpaka Ubushiku (Drimz),  Sikiriti Ku Bed (B1),  Lolo Lolo  (Macky II),  Njikata Pakuboko  (T-Gear featuring his younger brother Maps) and Go Mama Go (Karasa).
Well, going by the way things turned out at the official opening of Gonde Njanji Sports Club, the place was already on the go.
