Gomes pumps K50,000 in National Championship

GOMES Haulage Limited have pumped K50, 000 into this weekend’s sixth round National Rally Championship scheduled for Ndola.
The rally, which has been dubbed Gomes Nsobe Safari Rally Championship, has attracted 25 drivers.
Organising committee secretary Urshler Gomes said in an interview on Tuesday that K15,000 has been set aside for prize money while the other amount will go towards organising the event.
“We have had no motor rally in Ndola for the past 20 years now and you can see that people here are buzzing with excitement. The route and the stages are exciting. I am sure drivers will enjoy,” Gomes said.
She said competition will be stiff, especially with the absence of chart leader Jassy Singh.
Jassy is in Rwanda for the Gorilla Mountain African Rally revving off tomorrow.
“Jassy’s absence makes the competition tough. The likes of Muna jr, Mohammed Essa and Miles Monge all want to win and close the gap for the title,” Gomes said.
And Monge, who will be driving a GC8 Subaru Impreza, is geared for the rally while Vyon Pinto said he is also aiming to finish top.
