ELIZABETH CHATUVELA, Mongu
A FEMALE contractor in Mongu, Western Province, Joyce Inambao, has appealed to the government to consider giving women more projects as they have proved to
Ms Inambao, who is the managing director of Imujo Enterprises Limited, said local female contractors has not disappointed the government and should, therefore, be given bigger projects.
She was speaking here recently after her company handed over a three-bedroom modern house built at K 414,000 for Namushakende Agriculture Training Institute.
The house has been allocated to the principal of the institute, Chama Mwila, who has been squatting in the school dormitory.
And Mongu district commissioner Susiku Kamona, who received the house on behalf of Mr Chama, has challenged male local contractors to emulate their female counterparts.
Mr Kamona said it was gratifying to see female contractors deliver quality works, when their male counterparts were failing.
He assured Imujo Enterprises Limited continued support from the government.
Meanwhile, Mr Kamona says the handover of the house to Mr Chama should motivate him to do even better in his work.
He said the gesture by Government was one way of improving the living conditions for rural workers.
“As Government we are advocating decent accommodation for our officers in rural areas, and this house is a clear indication of our commitment. We can only hope that this house will motivate Mr Chama,” he said.
