Give education more money, Government urged

THE Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has appealed to the government to allocate more money to the education sector in the 2017 national budget.
ZCSD board chairperson Nicodemus Chabu said on Thursday, the education sector needs increased funding because it has been split into two.
“With the splitting of education into two ministries, allocation to the sector needs to be doubled. Our current education budget falls short of the United Nations (UN) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) standard of 24 and 20 percent, respectively, of the national budget and this needs critical attention,” he said.READ MORE
