Germany boosts power project

GERMANY has given Zambia a K333 million grant for financing the Sustainable Access to Electricity in Southern Division Component project aimed at improving power supply, reduce losses and enhance energy efficiency.The Germany government, through its development bank KFW, the lead funder of the project, will provide K211 million while the European Union (EU) will offer K122 million.
The project will be implemented by Zesco Limited.
The grant agreement was signed yesterday by Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe and head of co-operation at the German Embassy in Zambia Christoph Ritz.
