German investors eye Zambian market


ZAMBIA’S conducive business environment has continued to win kudos with German-African Business Association pledging to assist the country in attracting more investment from that country.
German-African Business Association manager for southern Africa Johannes Kurt who led a delegation of investors from Germany from October 21 -23 said Zambia remains a preferred investment destination owing to sound political environment.
Under the auspices of the Zambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the investors represented sectors from mining, energy, telecommunications and services were in the country to explore business opportunities.
Mr Kurt said German-African Business Association, which has about 600 members representing various sectors, will continue to foster trade and investment opportunities in Zambia and other African countries.
“There are a number of business opportunities in various sectors in Zambia and German-African Business Association wants to link members to the local private sector,” he said when the delegation held discussions with Zambia Development Agency director of investments Agness Chaila on Friday.
At the same occasion, Ms Chaila said investors should take advantage of the multi-facility economic zones and farm blocks currently being developed in various parts of the country.
She also said investors should consider investing in the energy sector in view of the increasing demand for power.
“Zambia has abundant natural resources representing excellent investment opportunities and is strategically positioned, creating trade opportunities for investors,” she said.
