Gemstones sector gets $400,000 EU funding

KELVIN MBEWE, Lusaka
THE Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has received a grant of US$400,000 from the European Union (EU) to revamp gemstone and semi-precious stone mining in the country.
The ministry says it will utilise the money to help small-scale miners around the country to become self-reliant for Government to include them on the tax base.
Ministry permanent secretary Paul Chanda said this at the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) workshop in Lusaka yesterday.READ MORE
