Gardener goes in

THE Livingstone Magistrate’s Court has slapped a nine-month jail sentence with hard labour on a 25-year-old gardener for assaulting his brother.
Solomon Masupa was charged with assaulting Jimmy Sikalabula and occasioning him actual bodily harm.
The offence was committed on February 8 in Livingstone.
On the fateful night, Masupa arrived home drunk and attempted to hit his mother with an iron bar and in the process injured Mr Sikalabula.
The matter was reported to Libuyu Police Station and the Masupa was arrested.
In mitigation, Masupa claimed he was mentally ill and is on medication.
But Livingstone magistrate Benjamin Mwelwa on Tuesday sentenced Masupa to nine months imprisonment with hard labour after listening to his mitigation.
