Ganja peddling pupils jailed

THE Ndola Magistrate’s Court has sent two schoolboys of Ndola to prison for one year for drug trafficking.
Magistrate Oswald Chibalo yesterday ordered the imprisonment of Shadreck Malama, 24, a Grade Nine pupil of Chiwala Basic School in Masaiti district, and Dave Mwila, 22, a Grade 10 pupil of Milemu Secondary School in Ndola after separately finding them guilty of trafficking in marijuana.

Mr Chibalo sentenced Malama to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for trafficking in 11.5 grammes of marijuana while Mwila, who was found with 1.22 grammes of the drug, was sentenced to one month imprisonment.
The court heard that the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) cornered Malama as he was selling the herb around Checha in the city centre and after searching him, 17 balls of the suspected marijuana were recovered and he admitted ownership.
