Fugitive suspected murderer cornered

DARLINGTON MWENDABAI, Chipata
A 19-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly stabbed to death a 43-year-old resident of Petauke in Eastern Province last year has been

arrested in Kitwe.
Eastern Province police commissioner Alex Chilufya said in an interview yesterday that Richard Silungwe has been on the run since December last year.
Mr Chilufya said Silungwe allegedly murdered Stephen Zulu on December 16 at Chibabasi Bar in the Petauke Showgrounds.
“Silungwe was arrested on Tuesday this week in Kitwe and is now in police custody in Petauke. He has been charged with murder and will appear in court soon,” he said.
Mr Chilufya warned that police will not allow people who come into conflict with the law to roam the streets freely.
He said the arrest of Silungwe should serve as a lesson to other law-breakers that the long arm of the law will always catch up with them no matter how long it takes.
