NANCY SIAME, Lusaka
THE Immigration Department has deported 31 Chinese nationals who were arrested for conducting illegal mining activities in Chingola recently.
Director-general Moola Milomo said in an interview that the Chinese nationals were deported on Tuesday last week through Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
“When one is deported, they are never allowed back in the country as they are considered to be a danger to the peace and security of the country,” he said.
He appealed to prospective investors to consult with the Zambia Development Agency to be guided properly in the areas of investment to avoid falling prey to illegal activities.
The 31 Chinese nationals were arrested in Chingola last week as security officers swept through the copper-mining town.
Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo advised foreigners last week not to get involved in mining-related operations such as smelting without proper licences.
