FNB launches smartphone transaction application

IN AN effort to promote financial inclusion in the country, First National Bank (FNB) Zambia has launched a banking application that will enable their business customers to access their accounts and authorise transaction on smartphones.
The application will allow the bank’s business account customers to authorise transactions, do collections, view account balances, transaction history, make payments and transfers.
FNB Zambia head of business banking Yokonia Ngoma said smartphones have become an essential business tool.
“We are the first bank in Zambia to provide business customers with full access to their accounts on their mobile devices. Leveraging our entrepreneurial culture and the latest banking technologies, we are enhancing the banking experiences of our customers and reducing their cost of accessing banking services,” Mr Ngoma said at the launch of the application yesterday.
He said the business application will also benefit farmers and contractors with seasonal labour by enabling them make bulk payments to staff without them needing bank accounts.
Earlier, FNB Zambia senior manager of digital banking Lumba Phiri said the feature will allow users have dual authorisation to ensure that controls are maintained on their accounts.
Mrs Phiri said apart from simplifying payment processes, the application will promote financial inclusion among the unbanked population in society.
“As FNB Zambia, we taken cognisance of the important role that technology plays in simplifying the world around us and enhancing our efficiency and productivity,” she said.
