FIRST National Bank (FNB) Zambia Limited has been awarded ‘Bank of the Year 2016’ for its role in transforming the country’s banking sector over the last few years.
The bank was awarded by the banker, a leading monthly journal of record for the banking industry, at a ceremony in London, for its outstanding performance, its level of product and service innovation and delivery over the past 12 months.
Commenting on the development, FNB Zambia acting chief executive officer, Kapumpe Kaunda said, “This award speaks to various facets of our business, including our focus on agriculture and structured financing solutions; our use of innovation as a core aspect of our business; our multichannel strategy – encompassing branches and agencies, mobile bankingâ€.
Mr Kaunda said the bank has provided support to the agriculture sector to a tune of US$100 million and is the first bank to participate on the Zambia Agricultural Commodities Exchange (ZAMACE) as part of its commitment to support the growth of agriculture in the country.
“Our aspiration is to be the leading bank in Zambia. The award of ‘Bank of the Year 2016’ for Zambia therefore gives us confidence that we have the right strategy and talent to attain that objectiveâ€, he said.
Meanwhile, speaking after receiving the ‘Bank of the Year’ award in London, FNB Zambia head of strategic marketing and communications Clotilda Mulenga, said that the bank will continue to provide innovative products and services.
