FORMER Miss Evelyn Hone College Febby Mwandama is expected to represent the country at the seventh edition of Face of Beauty International pageant in New Delhi, India whose grand finale has been set for September 24.
This year, the international pageant will attract over 60 contestants from various parts of the world.
According to a press statement made available to the Weekend Mail by Febby’s manager Alfred Mwansa, the model left for the pageant on Tuesday so that she could participate in a series of mini contests in the lead up to the grand finale.
“Before the actual pageant, all participants from different countries will be showcasing their beauty and talent on a mini contest that will lead to the grand finale,” Alfred said.
During her stay in India, Febby will be expected to explain to the world some of the tourist attractions found in Zambia.
“She is going to represent Zambia, so whatever she will display at the pageant will be Zambian and for Zambians,” he explained.
“Her trip to India is not just aimed at boosting her career, but also using the opportunity to boost the country’s tourism sector and it’s a clear manifestation of young people’s efforts in promoting art.”
Febby, who is also 2016 Miss Tourism Runner- Up and a women’s rights activist, regards the country’s first female Vice- President Inonge Wina as her role model.
Alfred appealed for support from Zambians as Febby is at the pageant to represent the country.
“We are also calling on the country’s stakeholders to support the event and give it the importance it deserves,” he said.
The Miss Face of Beauty is a yearly pageant, which attracts participants from all over the world. Last year, the country was represented by Brandina Lubuli who performed reasonably well.
