THE Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) says most farmers are reluctant to grow maize this farming season due to the low price of the commodity in the just- ended marketing season.
The Food Reserve Agency was buying a 50 kilogramme bag of maize at K60 in the 2017 marketing season.
ZNFU spokesperson Calvin Kaleyi said in an interview on Monday that most farmers have indicated that they will, in the 2017/18 farming season, just grow maize for home consumption due to low price at which the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) and other buyers were buying the commodity during the just -ended marketing season.
