Ex-mayor appointed DC

ELIZABETH CHATUVELA, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu has appointed former Mongu mayor Brian Tombi as district commissioner for Sikongo in Western Province.

The new district commissioner replaces Kufuka Kufuka, who resigned from the position to contest the Sikongo parliamentary seat in last year’s general elections.
Mr Tombi, who confirmed this yesterday, said he received the appointment letter on Tuesday.
“There were a number of people who were eyeing this position and I can only thank President Lungu for the trust and confidence he has placed in me. I will not disappoint him,” he said.
Mr Tombi said his first task will be to implement Government development programmes in the district, particularly the 85 kilometre Kalabo-Sikongo road which is being constructed at a cost of K959 million.
