Essa pulls out of Africa Championship

ZAMBIAN envoy in the 2014 Africa Rally Championship (ARC) Mohammed Essa has pulled out due to financial constraints.
Essa, who is second with 93 points on the ARC standings, announced the decision in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday.
Gary Chaynes of Ivory Coast is leading with 101 points from six rallies held in Ivory Coast, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.
The last two rounds will be in Kenya and Madagascar.
“I would like to greatly thank Madison General Insurance as they have given us great support throughout the year and for the many years the support they have given our team, without them we would not have made it this far.
“However, I have decided to pull out of this year’s championship due to financial constraints,” Essa said.
The 2012 African champion, however, regretted the decision saying he was ready to challenge for the title.
Puma Energy, who were also Essa’s sponsors, withdrew their sponsorship early this year.
The sixth round national rally championship has been scheduled for Kitwe’s Mindolo Dam on September 27.
Reigning African champion Jassy Singh did not enlist to defend his title.
