Envoy prods Team Zambia

HONE SIAME, Bulawayo
ZAMBIA’S deputy ambassador to Zimbabwe Mwenya Mushili has urged athletes representing the country at the sixth edition of the African Union Sports Commission Region 5 Games in Bulawayo to win more medals in honour of late President Sata.
Addressing Team Zambia at the Games Village yesterday, Mushili said it will not be in the interest of the nation if athletes fail to return home with more medals.
“We are known for excellence in sport and that is what the country expects from each one of you here. You need to win more medals,” Mushili said.
Team Zambia chief of mission Gibson Muyaule commended Mushili for finding time to visit the team at Hillside Teachers’ College.
Muyaule said the athletes were ready despite the chaotic challenges the team has encountered.
“Your visit is a big motivation to our athletes,” Muyaule said.
He said the bunk beds have now been provided to the athletes, who slept on the floor on arrival on Wednesday.
Zambia is being represented in soccer, athletics, boxing, swimming, paralympics and tennis.
The games, running under the theme “Reach for Greatness”, will end on December 14.
