Economic think-tank commends State for austerity measures

LUBINDA Habazoka.

ECONOMIST Lubinda Haabazoka says withdrawing personal to holder vehicles from Presidential aides and permanent secretaries has put Government on the right track for austerity measures.
Dr Haabazoka said in an interview yesterday that Government is walking its talk by cutting down on unnecessary expenditure.
On Thursday, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda told journalists that presidential aides and permanent secretaries no longer have personal to holder vehicles as part of austerity measures.
Instead, Government has facilitated loans from micro-finance for ministers, aides and permanent secretaries wishing to buy off personal-to-holder vehicles.
