GREEN Eagles yesterday edged relegation-threatened Red Arrows in a Super Division Week 26 match at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
The defeat means Arrows, who have 28 points need to win the remaining four games to stay in the elite league.
Eagles, who inched their tally to 33 points, and now look to have secured their Super Division status, dominated their defence force opponents who struggled for possession.
Linekar Mwikisa opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he headed home a Vincent Chenda free kick to score his fourth goal of the season.
Influential under-20 midfielder Spencer Sautu doubled the lead in the 50th minute when he latched onto a long range shot from Adamson Mulao to secure their eighth win.
Arrows pulled one back in the 70th minute through former international Francis Kombe, who converted a penalty following Cosmas Bulaya’s foul on Evans Musonda inside the box.
The ‘airmen’ next for games are against Konkola Blades, Napsa Stars, reigning champions Nkana and Zanaco while Eagles have National Assembly, Nakambala Leopards, Konkola Blades and Napsa Stars.
