Dubai energy firm eyes Kasama

KELVIN CHONGO, Lusaka
A DUBAI-BASED Energy Company has expressed interest to set up an oil refinery plant in Kasama to help bring down the cost of fuel and create jobs for youths in the area.
Kasama Central member of Parliament (MP) Kelvin Sampa disclosed in an interview yesterday that the investor, who is already in the country, is holding a series of meetings with all stakeholders in Kasama to pave way for the planned development.
Mr Sampa said that the investor is expected to establish a pipeline from the port of Mozambique to Kasama.
“We will soon start receiving crude oil in Kasama that will see a reduction in the price of fuel in the country,” he said.
He, however, could not disclose when the plant will be established and how much it will gobble saying this will be revealed after discussions with stakeholders are concluded.
“The refinery will also create a lot of jobs to young people in Kasama and the country at large,” he said.
