DRC refugees abandon camp

OVER 50 Congolese are squatting at the community development hall in Mongu after abandoning the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Resettlement Centre in Kaoma.
They claim they are being harassed by fellow refugees at the resettlement centre.
The 51 foreigners were among those Government and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) relocated from Lusaka to Mayukwayukwa on Friday last week in the wake of looting sparked by suspected ritual killings.
The group, which first took refuge at the Lady of Lourds Catholic Church, refused to vacate the premises and only did so after permanent secretary Mwangala Liomba assured them that an alternative place would be found for them.
