Dear editor,
THE observation by Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Roland Msiska on the need for field trips should be supported by all educationists.
Field trips to historical sites and museums around the country by pupils and teachers will enable them to appreciate Zambia’s rich heritage and history.
At the moment some of the learners are disadvantaged because their schools are located in areas that are far away from museums and history class.
However, with proper planning, a history class from Mpatamato Secondary School in Luanshya or Limbotwa Basic School in Kaoma can conduct a field trip to Southern Province and see Ing’ombe Ilede, Isamu Pati, Kalundu, and not forgetting the Victoria Falls. This can consolidate what they learn in Central African history.
