GOVERNEMNT has called on companies to take advantage of the opportunities on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) by listing to raise cheaper capital as an alternative to other traditional forms of raising funds.
Minister of Finance Felix Mutati said since LuSE was opened over 20 years ago, only few firms have listed despite the various options and incentives available on exchange.
Currently, LuSE has 23 listed firms with a market capitalisation standing at about K62.4 billion.
“Since LuSE was launched as an alternative source of capital, some progress has been made but most of the corporates are shying away from accessing the opportunities presented on the platform,” he said during the LuSE 10th Corporate Governance Awards gala dinner on Friday night.
