Letter to the Editor

Don’t hunt what you can’t kill

Dear editor,
THE just ended by-elections have taught some political parties lessons that they should not hunt what they cannot kill, and they must also not underrate the capacity of Zambian voters to determine which political parties are time-wasters.Politics is a game of numbers. Some political leaders count the ‘likes’ on Facebook and think that they are popular.
Social media can be misleading. And you don’t go into politics without a manifesto.
During election campaigns, the leaders are surrounded by their ‘followers’ who normally don’t let go unless they are given something.
At the end of the activity, most leaders gnash their teeth as they count the cost of their failed campaign.
Democracy is expensive, especially when one is on the losing end because there is no return on investment.
