THE Association of Mine Suppliers and Contractors (AMSC) has urged new Minister of Mines and Mineral Development Richard Musukwa to dismantle mine supply cartels in mining companies.
The association feels cartels deprive Zambians of contracts.
Mr Musukwa, who was appointed Minister of Mines on Wednesday, taking over from Christopher Yaluma, has been tasked to look into the issues of contracts and service providers in mines so that Zambians benefit.
In welcoming the changes made by President Edgar Lungu, AMSC president Augustine Mubanga said there are mine supply cartels and these are robbing Zambians of income.
Mr Mubanga said the new minister has vast knowledge of activities in the mines owing to his trade union background in the mining sector.
