‘No digital migration blackout’

THERE will be no television (TV) blackout after the deadline of digital migration on June 17 this year, director of planning and Information in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services, Beaton Kaluba has assured.
Mr Kaluba, in an interview over the weekend, advised the media not to alarm the nation by suggesting that there will be TV blackouts after the digital migration deadline.
“At a certain date to be announced by the minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, we are going to switch off the analogue broadcasting. This switch-off date is what has made some sections of the media misinterpret as “blackout”, but the blackout will never happen,” he said
Mr Kaluba said that those talking of TV blackouts are either being malicious or have limited clarity on digital migration.
