ALTHOUGH the national soccer team lost its last friendly match 4-1 to Ivory Coast in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, they deserve to be commended.
Fatigue and some schoolboy errors contributed to the loss coming hardly two days following a 3-2 win over Morocco in Rabat.
Good learning platform for our boys. I wouldn’t be too worried. The future looks good.
The Chipolopolo opened the tour with a 2-1 loss to Cameroon, the Africa Cup of Nations defending champions.
The Chipolopolo, coached by Bestone Chambeshi, comprised mostly boys who are members of the under23 national team who are getting experience more especially playing against such opposition. Therefore, soccer fans should not crucify the boys but encourage them. Let us also encourage FAZ to expose them even more.
Zambians should not miss the bigger picture. Even if the boys didn’t play well against the tried and tested Ivory Coast, the country must think ahead. These are boys who are coming from Under-23.
They have done a fantastic job in the three friendly games against Cameroon, Morocco and Ivory Coast.
Zambia is in the right lane and lessons must be learnt from all the two loses and one win. Exposure was at stake here and not necessarily pride.
