CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
THE Livingstone High Court has sentenced a 32-year-old peasant farmer of Mazabuka to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for having carnal knowledge of his 14-year-old daughter.
The man of Kazingwe village in Mazabuka, who was charged with incest, was handed down the custodial sentence by Justice Lishomwa Nawa Muuka.
Particulars are that on November 12, in 2011, the man had unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter ,who is under the age of 16.
On the material date, he called his daughter into the house and ordered her to leave the other child that was strapped to her back, but she refused. He then pulled the girl into his bedroom, where he had sex with her.
In mitigation, Legal Aid board counsel Martin Mankika asked for leniency, saying the convict is a young man who regrets his actions.
