DEC nabs South African over cocaine

PRISCILLA CHIPULU, Lusaka
THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a South African for trafficking in cocaine

weighing over one kilogramme.
Particulars of the offence are that Zanele Marvis Mpi, 42, a house maid of Port Elizabeth in the Republic of South Africa, was arrested for trafficking in cocaine weighing 1.28kg.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the suspect was intercepted at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on arrival from Ethiopia.
And the commission in Lusaka has also arrested a herbalist of Chipata district, Eastern Province, for trafficking in loose cannabis.
“Patrick Satala Bwalya, 27, of Kalongwezi area has been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 30.6kg,” Ms Katongo said.
She said Bwalya was intercepted at Chinyunyu check point in Chongwe district.
Ms Katongo said both suspects will appear in court soon.
