De Niro wears Prada

MOVIE REVIEW with SHUPE SAKALA
Title: The Intern
Genre: Comedy
Director: Nancy Meyers
Time: 2 hours 1 minute
ANNE Hathaway and Robert de Niro take the lead in this charming comedy about a retired successful business owner and widower who lands an internship at a fashion website run by a young, career-driven woman.
Most loved for her lead role in the 2006 release, The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Hathaway, you’d  agree, is a true fashionista and what better role for her than this? But even better, this time around is that she is the employer and not nearly as brutal as Meryl Streep who played her evil boss in the movie.
Ben Whittaker is 70 years old and discovers the hard fact that retirement isn’t all that he expected it to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at a start-up online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).
He finds himself in the middle of a hurricane created by the company chief.
Jules’ clothing business, which she started in her kitchen a year and a half earlier, has taken off and put her in charge of over 200 employees.
Jules is initially skeptical of bringing a seemingly clueless old-timer like Ben into the mix, especially since she is juggling her business with a demanding home life that includes husband Matt and daughter Paige. But eventually Ben proves invaluable and wins Jules over with his hard-earned wisdom and compassion, providing her with much-needed guidance, as well as a trusty friend, as she navigates life’s ups and downs.
If you love comedy and love to laugh – you’re covered, as the veteran Robert de Niro is sure to enthuse you with his with wit and lovable personality.

Title: Staright out of Compton
Genre: Drama
Director: F. Gray Gray
Time: 2 hours 27 minutes
The eighties were indeed memorable for many, more so with the burst of a new kind of music.
Remember the artistes Easy-E, Dr Dre, Ice Cube and many others? Of course you do.
In the movie, it’s the mid-1980s and the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation.
Straight Outta Compton tells the bewildering story of how these youngsters revolutionised music and a pop culture was born the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood, thereby igniting a cultural war.
Catch both of these movies and more at the Fresh View Cinema at Manda Hill. Enjoy!
