Critics are a shame

PRESIDENT Lungu says it is shameful for some opposition party leaders to think that the appreciation of the Kwacha will not last and that the drop in the rate of inflation is a political gimmick.
The inflation rate for March 2016 recorded a decline of 0.7 percentage point to 22.2 percent from 22.9  percent recorded in February while the Kwacha, which depreciated rapidly in the last quarter of 2015, is now trading below the K10 mark against the United States (US) dollar (between K9.35 and K9.50 for buying and selling, respectively).
These, among other positive trends in the economy, prompted comments from United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema and his Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) counterpart Charles Milupi to claim that these improvements are due to global factors and a political gimmick by President Lungu’s administration.
