THE Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) has picked a 13-member provisional team for this month’s International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Division Two Twenty-20 tournament in South Africa.
ZCU president Reuben Chama, who released the names on Wednesday, said the players have been picked on merit.
Chama said the union expect good results.
The tournament is slated for September 20-26 in Benoi, Singapore.
“Players have been selected on merit and these positions are not personal to holder. We expect good results from the boys. We will prepare well this time around and we believe that we shall be in a position to win promotion to Division One at the end of this tournament,†Chama said.
The team comprises Sarfaraz Patel, Allan Nsensha, Musonda Yambayamba, Himal Patel, Imran Patel, Sarfaraz Lulat, Mohammed Mitha and James Zimba.
Others are Gladson Kandela, Kanswe Omala, Sharif Yousuf, Irfan Galiya and Madalitso Mvula.
Javid Patel, Tapson Nyirongo, Misheck Malama, Zaki Patel, Tahir Bariwala and Joseph Chinunga are reserves.
The tournament has attracted six countries – Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Seychelles, Swaziland and Zambia.
